Tina Turner
Nippon Budokan, Tokyo, Japan December 28th 1985

Tina Turner will long be remembered as one of the most sensational, daring and courageous women in the world of rock ’n’ roll. Her impact went far beyond her music, as the first Black artist and woman to be on the cover of Rolling Stone’s 1967 issue and picking up a whopping 12 Grammy Awards along the way. With MTV having launched in 1981, the very visual Tina Turner was a perfect candidate for heavy rotation after switching roles from soul star to rock singer. 1984 heralded the rebirth of Tina Turner and a new era that would change her life forever. Private Dancer and its hit singles underlined that change and took her around the world once more. This show from the Budokan Hall, Tokyo on December 28th 1985, marked the last concert in a spectacular run of shows for what was then, her most successful world tour.
